With the holiday season nearby many of us are preparing for a journey, vacation or trip and while you’ve perhaps already put together a checklist of things you’ll need to pack into your suitcases, we’ve decided to help you put together something of a checklist to create your own medical travel kit. A kit to take along on your travels for those times when you find yourself in a situation where you wish you could turn to your mobile medicine cabinet for some relief. While the key to creating a good medical kit is ensuring the contents prepare you for the type of journey and destination according to what you could be up against, there are few common items which are always good to have around on a trip.
Eg of common brands – Panadol, Tylenol
Always good to have in the kit in case of headaches, mild pains etc.
Eg of common brands – Anergan, Phenergan, Stematil
Going on a cruise? Taking a long car journey or going anywhere you might face motion sickness? It’s always handy to have something to take in case you feel nauseous.
Eg of common brands – Immodium, Loperamide, Pepto-Bismol, Lomotil
An upset stomach with diarrhea, constipation or acidity is common for travelers as diets change and the tummy is vulnerable to these problems. Antacids and medicines to keep tummy trouble at bay are a must in this travel med kit.
Depending on the allergies that you’re prone to, it’s critical to pack anti allergy medication to tackle any allergy attack ranging from asthma attacks, dust allergies, food allergies and more.
Band aids, bandaging, antiseptic, tiny scissors, tape and basic first aid material always comes in handy especially for trips with an adventure component.
Cream based or spray on mosquito repellants could be a life saver (and sleep saver) in many situations and come in handy.
The final additions which are perhaps the most important are prescription drugs that you should be carrying with you for any medical condition you’re being treated for at the time. Whether it’s for a heart condition, insulin for diabetes or any other condition, these are elements you can’t afford to leave behind!
Whatever the destination, however long it may be, it’s best to be go prepared!
