Your Guide To Great Health & Better Living

Healthy eating for a Healthy Living

The importance of healthy living is appreciated by many, but practiced by few. One of the most important ways to pursue healthy living is healthy eating. It is important that we understand our deficiencies, get the cholesterol levels checked regularly and come to terms with our metabolism rates. A healthy diet can then be planned accordingly such that it benefits our system by increasing or decreasing the intake of particular nutrients. Ideally, our intake should include a variety of foods from all food groups such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, cereals and grains. Its better to consume food prepared at home because that is prepared with better hygiene. Recipes should cut off too much oil, spices, salt, sugar and alcohol as per the age and system of those who would enjoy the meal. Cooking procedures should not harm the nutritional value of the food. Also, everything raw that is being consumed or cooked should be washed very well. Food that is taken inside the mouth needs to be chewed very well so that the digestion process becomes easy. Consumption of water helps in washing away toxins from our body. To keep habits healthy and metabolism friendly, breakfast should never be skipped since it is the meal after a long fast, and dinner should be taken early.

Many of us plan our diets with relevance to the dictates of our weighing machine. Often we believe that less eating causes weight loss! Not only is this a wrong notion, but this practice leads to weakness and harms the body in long term. Rather, intelligent diet with exercises and good sleep fetches better results. We can choose lower-fat dairy products, leaner meats and foods prepared with little or no fat for our daily consumption. An average man needs around 2,500 calories a day and an average woman needs 2,000 calories. It would be appropriate to eat the right number of calories according to how active we are, so that we balance the energy we consume with the energy we use. Discipline in eating habits reflect back on healthy living.
